MRS. JANES IS TO BE BURIED TODAY
Funeral services will be from Congregational Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. C. S. Janes will be held this afternoon from the house at 2 o'clock and at the Congregational Church with the Reverend Paul P. Jackson in charge, assisted by the Reverend H. H.Hazard, pastor of the Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sibley cemetery.
Mrs. Janes passed away suddenly Monday evening at 6:30 at her home. She had been indisposed only the past 2 days. She was 82 years old.
Della Minerva, youngest child of Stillman and Esther Greene, was born at Milton Junction, Wisconsin, July 29, 1856. Her girlhood days were spent there. She was married to Charles S. Janes October 15th, 1873 at Milton Junction. There were 2 daughters, Alice C. and Florence Esther, and 2 sons, George S. and Walter H.
Mr. and Mrs. Janes left Wisconsin for North Loup, Nebraska, in 1881, later returning to Wisconsin. They lived for short periods of time at Parnell, Belle Plaine, Lorimor, and Cherokee, Iowa. In 1902 they moved to East Holman Township, 5 miles southeast of Sibley, where they lived on a farm until the winter of 1913, when they moved to Sibley. Mr. Janes preceded his wife in death August 27, 1927.
Mrs. Janes joined the Rebokah Lodge in 1887. Last year she was presented her 50 year membership pin by lodge number 23 of Sibley. She was a charter member of the Country Club, a group of Holman Township friends and neighbors. This club has existed for the past 33 years.
In young womanhood, she was converted and received Christian baptism in the 7th Day Baptist Church. April 8, 1917, she united with the First Congregational Church of Sibley. She was prominent in church work, a faithful member of the Ladies' Aid.
She was a deaconess for several years.
She had enjoyed good health for many years until a few years ago, when she had a severe illness.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Alice C. Gobel, Bismarck, North Dakota, and Mrs. H.P.Fenton (Florence) of Chicago , Illinois; two sons, George S. of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Walter H., of Sibley; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother John Greene of Edgerton, Wisconsin.
