“The Dodge Center Star-Record”, Dodge Center. Minnesota, Thursday, Jan. 3, 1946, p 1.
Orph Samuel Greene, youngest son of Wallace and Addie Mills Green, was born in January 1888. He would have been 59 years of age on his next birthday.
He was united in marriage to Vivian Bell on September 14, 1914. To this union were born two children: Audrey, wife of Clarence MacDonald, and William. There are three grandchildren.
Orph was baptized early in life and was a conscientious religious boy, a regular attendant at church services and Sabbath School, and a good student of the Bible. In after years he became somewhat indifferent to religious affairs, but not being satisfied with this way of living, he moved to a farm nearer Dodge Center where he could attend the church of his faith. At this time he asked to have his covenant renewed, and to be reinstated in the church and with the church people.
He has been a faithful worker ever since and has held several offices in the church and Sabbath School. Orph was a great lover of music.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two children, three grandchildren, one brother, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Rev. Thorngate officiated at the funeral services assisted by Rev. N. D. Mills of New Auburn, Wisconsin.
Pall bearers were Arthur Payne, Harry Bird, Leslie Langworthy, Ormond, Walter and Henry Bond.
The musical numbers were sung by a mixed quartette of nephews and nieces of the deceased. They were Lester and Helen Greene, Ardith and Wallace Greene. Mrs. Thorngate accompanied.
Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
The ladies of the S. D. B. Society served lunch before and after the services at the Thorngate home.
