EDGERTON – Melville (Nudge) Hallett, 78, 109 Albion St., died Wednesday evening in Edgerton Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born July 16, 1885, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Adelaide DeNoyelles Hallett. He came to Edgerton as a child and had been employed by the Highway Trailer Industries and in tobacco warehouses for many years until his retirement. His marriage to the former Bessie Williams took place in Edgerton Nov. 30, 1916.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Donald Sommervold and Mrs. Raymond Hollem?, Edgerton, Mrs. John T. Smith, N. River Road, Janesville, and Mrs. LeRoy Palm, Cave Junction, Ore.; two brothers, Lewis Hallett, Watertown, and Percy Hallett, Jim Falls; one sister, Mrs. Neil McVicar, 222 N. Washington St., Janesville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Jones-Spear Funeral Home, the Rev. Gerald Krause, Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.

EDGERTON – Bessie Hallett, 88, of 118 N. Henry, died this morning in Edgerton Memorial Hospital.
A longtime Edgerton resident, the former Bessie Williams was born on Oct. 4, 1892, in Dane County. She married Melville Hallett. He died in 1964.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Donald Sommervold, and Mrs. Kenneth Brandt, both of Edgerton, and Mrs. A. C. Manthei and Mrs. Glen Peterson, both of Janesville; a sister, Mrs. Harry Armit of Edgerton; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bruni Funeral Home with burial in Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
