  JANESVILLE - Darlene Ruth (Erbs) (Codman) Bagstad, age 71, of Westby and formerly of Janesville, died Mon., Sept. 1, 1997, in Viroqua.   She was born on Jan 15, 1926 in Milton, WI, the daughter of Henry Joseph and Elnora Belle (Davis) Erbs.   She grew up and was educated in Milton, WI, finishing her high school education in Evansville, WI.   On March 13, 1977, she married Lester R. Bagstad.   She was a past member of Janesville Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed drawing and painting (especially wildlife, birds, and country scenes).   She belonged to several bowling leagues throughout her adult years.   She was employed at Oak's Mfg. in Elkhorn, Gibbs Mfg. in Janesville and retired from Parker Pen in 1981.   She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
  She is survived by her husband, Lester R. Bagstad; 2 daughters, Connie M. (Codman) Fessenden of Janesville and Suzette H. (Codman) Norby of Milton; a brother, Raymond Erbs of Janesville; 3 sisters: Vera Ballard of Janesville, Marvel Strohbush of Milwaukee, and Gladys (Stephen) O'Connor of Janesville; 3 grandchildren: Jason S. Fessenden, David S. Fessenden and Carl L. Fessenden, all of Janesville; a great-grandchild, Jennifer B. Fessenden; a step-son, Jeffery (Gale) Bagstad of LaCrosse; a step-grandson, Dustin Bagstad; 5 nephews and 2 nieces.   She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Francis Erbs and William Erbs, both of Evansville, and Vernon Erbs of Janesville; 3 nephews; and a great-nephew.
  A visitation will be held Wednesday at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service conducted by Pastor Gary Daines.   Funeral services will be held Thurs., Sept. 4, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. at Cargill United Methodist Church in Janesville, with Pastor JD McCarthy officiating.   Entombment will be in the Milton Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.   Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. at the church.   Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby, WI, is assisting the family.
