Don Crosby, 79, of Pioneer Road, Whitewater, WI, died peacefully at home on Friday night, Sept. 10, 2010.   He was born on April 1, 1931, in Milton, WI, to Donald Ivan and Ann (Tande) Crosby.   He was educated in the Milton and Janesville schools, and graduated from Milton Union High School in 1949.   In January of 1951, Don enlisted in the Air Force.   He was trained as a Radar Technician, and one year of his enlistment was served just off the North Korean coast on Cho Do Island.   He was honorably discharged in December 1954.   On Aug. 17, 1952, he married Kay Tyrrell in the Grace Methodist Church, Spencer, IA.   Following his discharge, he was employed by Scoville Electric in Milton, and the GM plant in Janesville.   In 1959, he established his own business in Whitewater, Crosby Electric, and operated that business for a number of years.   Later he was employed by Cole Electric of Janesville and Madison, retiring from that work in 1996.   Don was a master woodworker, and through the years he made many beautiful gifts for his family and friends.   They were labors of love.   He built the house he and his family have lived in the past 29 years.   Don loved music of all kinds, and singing was one of his favorite things to do.   A day without a song or two from him was rare.   Ella Fitzgerald was a particular favorite of his.   He loved trains and horses (especially colts), enjoyed fishing and golfing, and was a Cub and Packer fan.   Don was a member of First United Methodist Church in Whitewater and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay; three sons: Randy (Meredith) of Elm Grove, WI, Chris (Sue) of De Ridder, LA, and Kevin (Julie) of Lucas, TX; six grandchildren: Tanne, Marc, Amanda, Sarah, Taylor, and Tyrrell Crosby; two sisters, Marilyn Scoville of Milton, WI, and Judy (George) Klinger of Williamsburg, IA; brother-in-law, Don (Audrey) Tyrrell of Westminster, CA; sister-in-law, Wendy Tyrrell of St. Joseph, MO; two aunts; 10 nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Vi and Don Tyrrell; and three brothers-in-law: David Rodman, Lee Scoville, and Steve Tyrrell.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 145 S. Prairie St., Whitewater, WI.   Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery with Military Rites.   Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.   Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Homes, Milton, are assisting the family with arrangements.   Memorials may be made in Don’s name to First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, or to Rainbow Hospice Care, Jefferson, WI.
