Asa F. Randolph, john of John and Experience F. Randolph, was born at New Salem, Va., (now Salem, W. Va.) Feb. 15, 1833, and died at Berea, W. Va., Sept. 3, 1903.
Brother Randolph grew to manhood in the religious atmosphere and under the moral influence of the old Salem church.   There he experienced religion and formed the habits of integrity, firmness and loyalty to truth that characterized his earthly career.
October 1, 1851, he was united in marriage with Marvel Maxson, daughter of John Maxson of Greenbrier.   The following spring they settled on the waters of Bone Creek.   After a residence there of about two years, they removed to Meat House Fork, and operated a tannery on the site now occupied by W, H, Davis.
Early in the year 1857 they removed to the South Fork of Hughes River and founded the home so well known by the community and ever cherished in the minds of the noble men and women who have gone from its beneficent influence to take their places in the arena of life.   The saintly wife and mother passed on to her reward December 2, 1887, and now we mourn the father, who returned to these scenes of his active life, and was stricken down in the midst of his family and friends.
Brother Randolph was again married to Hannah Mary Saunders at Alfred, N. Y., April 16, 1891, president Allen officiating.   The last eleven years of his life were pleasantly passed in their home in Alfred.   Eight of his eleven children are left to mourn this loss.
January 29, 1871, Brother Randolph joined the Ritchie Seventh-day Baptist church, and October 10, 1874, was ordained deacon.   In religion he was steadfast, conscientious and faithful to every requirement.   As a citizen, upright, generous, honorable, in all his dealings.   As a husband and father no greater praise can be spoken than the lives of the sons and daughters who bless his memory today.   Soon after his removal from West Virginia, he united with the Seventh-day Baptist church at Alfred, N. Y., of which he was a worthy and honored member at the time of his death.

Hannah Mary Saunders Randolph, daughter of Jonathan and Rheuhanna Emerson Saunders, was born in Lanphear Valley, Alfred, N. Y., July 4, 1837, and died at her home in Alfred, June 11, 1907, after three months' illness.
In April, 1891 she was married to Asa Fitz Randolph, who died in 1903.   Mrs. Arminda S. Byers, her only surviving sister has shared her home for six years.   Two brothers, Joseph E. and C. Adelbert, live in Michigan.   There are six living children of Mr. Randolph to whom she has been a mother.
She was baptized about thirty years ago by Eld. N. V. Hull, and joined the First Alfred Seventh-day Baptist church.   She was a woman of strong convictions and reliable character.   She took a deep interest in the lives of the younger ones and had a quiet watch-care over many a one which has born fruit for good.   She has lived a busy life of service and passed away in the faith in which she had lived.
The hymns sung at her funeral service were those she had loved ever since her father sang them as he rocked he in his arms nearly seventy years ago.   One of her favorites was one ending with these lines:
"Now here's my heart, and here's my hand
To meet you in the heavenly land
Where we shall part no more.
