St James Burton L

St. James, Burton Lazars, Leicestershire

Burton Lazars was known as Burton Lazarus when my ancestors lived there. Its name derives from England's largest Mediaevel leper colony, which was near to the church

There are three SHILLCOCK graves at this church (not in my direct line), right at the front. I spent ages looking for them and they were right under my nose. Mind you, it was snowing at the time!

The three Shillcock graves are at the front of the church with the inscriptions facing the main road. Henry SHILLCOCK's grave came out far too dark in the photograph. A challenge for another day!
