3. ROBERT3 SNODGRASS (JANE2 GREENLEE, JAMES1) was born 1756 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died 06 Nov 1822 in Harrison County, Kentucky. He married MARY ANN WHITE Abt. 1776 in Botetourt County, Virginia, daughter of JOHN WHITE and CATHERINE EVANS. She was born Abt. 1758 in Augusta County, Virginia.

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I, ROBERT SNODGRASS, being in sound mind and memory, taking not consideration the mortality of man, make this my last will and testament, First recommending my soul to God, Second that my body be buried in a decent Christian like manner, Third revoking all former wills whatsoever, Fourth that all my just debts be paid, Fifth do bequeath unto my son David Snodgrass all my real and personal Estate that he may have in taking care of me and my wife and furnishing us with such necessity of life as we shall stand in need of and further more the said David Snodgrass is to pay unto his brother Jas. John and his sisters Patsey, Sally, Peggy, Polly, Nancy and the legal representatives of his brother Robert Snodgrass dec'd the sum of forty dollars each and the same sum of forty dollars to both the representatives of Robert, dec'd the foresaid forty dollars to be paid to the legatees named in this will is to be paid within two years after the death of my wife and myself, to be paid in the common currency of Kentucky.

In testimony whereof I have unto set my had and seal this third day of October in the year of our Lord 1822.

ii. JAMES "JOHN" SNODGRASS, b. 10 Dec 1779, Virginia; d. 05 Aug 1830, Bourbon County, Kentucky; m. NANCY AGNES MCCORMICK; b. 14 Feb 1777, Virginia; d. 03 Jul 1845.

Notes for JAMES "JOHN" SNODGRASS:John moved to Kentucky with his father at the age of 15. After his marriage to Nancy McCormick they lived in Kentucky where he worked at the millers trade until 19 Sep 1826 when he migrated to Hancock county, Indiana. There he entered several hundred acres of land and farmed the rest of his life. He was educated in Virginia and Kentucky, receiving quite a liberal education by his father. He owned a distillery, which he operated in connection with his mill. He owned 3 farms in Kentucky. He was a member of the New Light Church, uniting directly after his marriage. He is buried in the graveyard at New Palestine, Indiana.


Be it remembered that I, John Snodgrass of Hancock county and the State of Indiana being weak in Body, but of sound and prefect mind and memory, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to-wit;

First I give and bequeathe unto my beloved wife Anges Snodgrass all my tenement or land and all my personal property as long as she shall continue to be my widow and if she shall continue my widow until her death then my daughter Mary, my daughter Elizabeth, my son Garrett, my daughter Jane. my daughter Lucinda, my daughter Nancy G., my daughter Hephzebath, and my daughter Minerva to have all my and and tenements and personal property equally divided between them until they shall have received \ved as much as my four oldest sons, John ROBERT, James M. and Rockard G. Snodgrass and received, to-wit; John Snodgrass, my eldest son has received One hundred and thirty five dollars, my son Robert Snodgrass has received One hundred and thirty nine dollars, my third son James M. Snodgrass has received One hundred ten dollars, my fourth son Richard G. Snodgrass has received One hundred and twenty five dollars and my eight youngest children shall have received as much as the aboved named oldest John, ROBERT, James M. and Richard G. Snodgrass shall not be bound to pay interest for what they have received hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
