JOHANN FRIEDRICH AUGUST RÖDIGER, son of Johann
Christoph Rödiger and Johanna Christiana Böhme, was born 29 May 1800
at 3 a.m. in Schafstädt, and baptized there 30 May. His godparents were Meister
Johann August Herzau, Bürger and wool and linenweaver of Schafstädt; Frau Maria
Elisabeth Finkin, wife of Meister Christian Gottfried Fink, Bürger and Einwohner
and also wagoner of Schafstädt; and Friedrich Gottlob Detring, Bürger and shoemaker
of Schafstädt.
He lived in Bündorf, Sachsen, a village near Schafstädt. Like his father, he was a burgher and a wool and linen weaver. On his marriage record, he was called "Meister," although this honorific was not repeated on the birth record of his son Friedrich August.
He was 28 years old at the time of his marriage, for which banns were posted in Schafstädt and Bündorf. He married at Bündorf, 23 August 1829, JOHANNE MARIE TROMMER, who was born Sunday, 13 May 1804 in Bündorf, daughter of Meister Johann Gottfried Trommer and Maria Dorothea Müller. Her father, like her husband's, was a wool and linen weaver. She was the second child and eldest daughter of her parents. She was baptized in Bündorf on Wednesday, 16 May 1804. At the time of her marriage, she was in service in Merseburg with the widow Frau Dial.? Nürnberg.
