Christoph Trommer 2

Christoph Trommer 2

CHRISTOPH TROMMER, son of Christoph Trommer and Anna Schlaaff, was born about 1737, perhaps in Rossbach or Gröst. His baptism was not recorded at Zscherben, but he was described at marriage as the eldest son of the late Christoph Trommer, Nachbar and Einwohner of Zscherben. From this and his age at death, it seems probable that he was the first child of Christoph Trommer and Anna Schlaaff, who were married in Zscherben in 1737. Their first recorded children (twins) in Zscherben were born in 1740, making it likely that there was a first child who was baptized elsewhere.

He was invariably referred to as Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben. Christoph died in Zscherben 7 Aug 1813 at 1 p.m., age 76: "Christoph Trommer, Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben." Cause of death was a stroke and old age. He left "married sons and a widow." He was buried on 10 Aug 1813.

He married in Zscherben on 3 Nov 1763, JOHANNA MÜLLER, "stepdaughter and Peleg? daughter of the late Johann Christian Rockendorff, Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben." Christoph was described on the marriage record as "Christoph Trommer, Juv:, Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben, eldest son of the late Christoph Trommer, Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben." Johanna died of the weakness of old age in Bündorf on 6 Apr 1814 at 1 p.m., age 80, "widow of the late Christoph Trommer, Nachbar and Einwohner in Zscherben," leaving 2 married sons. She was buried 8 Apr. This would make her birth year about 1734, so she was probably an illegitimate daughter of Susanna Catharina born Müller, the first wife of Christian Rockendorff.
