NICHOLAS REST married, 22 Sep 1638,
ELIZABETH BURTON, who was bapt. at Plumtree, Notts., 4 Oct 1606, daughter
of William Burton and Agnes Welch.
They married by license, on which he was Nicholas Reste of Tollerton; she was Elizabeth Burton late of Tollerton and now of the parish of St. Mary's, Nottingham; bondman was William Reste of Orston, Notts., husbandman. Both Nicholas and William Rest signed by mark.
He was a laborer, as of the marriage record. There was no baptism for a Nicholas Rest in the surviving Orston records, but he may have been a son of John Rest of Orston, who had a son William baptized at Orston in Oct of 1608. John may, in turn, have been a son or brother of the Nicholas Rest who died at Orston, 10 Jan 1616/7.

ELIN REST, bapt. 10 Jan 1644/5; bur. at Tollerton, Notts., 5 Mar 1706; m., first, at Colwick, 11 Jul 1666, GEORGE WARD, who was buried at Tollerton, 8 Jun 1668; she married, second, at Tollerton, 24 Apr 1669, EDWARD KETTLEBURN, who was bapt. at Cotgrave, Notts., 12 Sep 1641; buried at Tollerton, 4 May 1708.
3. WILLIAM REST, bapt. 9 Nov 1646.
