STEPHEN KELLY, son of Richard Kelly and Hannah Bartlett, was born 4 Nov 1740. He died of a fever at Amesbury, MA, 7 Oct 1784.
He married at Amesbury, MA, 26 May 1762, LOIS SARGENT, daughter of Stephen Sargent and Judith Ordway. She was born at Amesbury, MA, 15 Apr 1743 and died at Chichester, NH, in Jan 1818, in the family of her son Dr. Amasa Kelly.
At a meeting of the town of Amesbury, 26 Jun 1778, a committee was chosen "to draft instructions for the Representative for the District concerning the Confederation," and "to lay said draft" before the town at an adjourned meeting. This committee consisted of the selectmen of the town and four persons additional, of whom one was Stephen Kelly. At a town meeting held 17 Sep 1779, he with five others was chosen "to see that the regulating prices are kept." He was one of the selectmen of the town in 1781, and in one or two succeeding years.
According to DAR records, he was a sergeant at the Lexington Alarm in a company of Massachusetts militia under Capt. Caleb Pillsbury.

1. LOIS KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 15 Nov 1762; m. at Amesbury, MA, 6 Dec 1780, her cousin, CAPT. JOHN SAWYER, son of Captain John Sawyer and Elizabeth Kelley. Lived at his father's place at Sawyer's Landing, West Amesbury (Merrimac). He was a butcher.
2. STEPHEN KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 24 Apr 1764; d. at Amesbury, 29 Sep 1837 of a fall; m. at Amesbury, MA, 10 Sep 1788, EUNICE SARGENT, daughter of Robert Sargent and Anne Coffin; she d. 11 Oct 1841. He was a carpenter and farmer; lived on the homestead of his father and grandfather.
3. AMASA KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 9 May 1765; d. at Chichester, NH, 7 Apr 1847; m. at Atkinson, NH, 5 Oct 1792, BETSEY RICHARDS, daughter of Capt. Daniel Richards of Atkinson, NH. She was b. 12 Jan 1764; d. 30 Sep 1850. He taught school in Londonderry, NH and Gilmanton, NH. He then studied medicine with Dr. William Cogswell of Atkinson, NH, and was a physician in Pittsfield, NH, at the time of his marriage. Not long after his marriage, he removed to Chichester, NH, where he remained a physician and farmer to the end of his life.
4. NATHAN KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 7 Oct 1766; d. at Hopkinton, NH, 4 May 1842; m. at Newbury, MA, 30 Nov 1797, ELIZABETH (BETSEY) BROWN of West Newbury. She died at Hopkinton, NH, 11 Aug 1857, age 85 years, 5 months. Lived for a short time after marriage in West Newbury, then moved to Hopkinton, NH.
5. HANNAH KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 16 Jan 1768; d. 16 Jun 1802; buried at Merrimac; m. at Amesbury, MA, 2 Nov 1790, her cousin, WIBURD SAWYER, who was b. 17 Jan 1769, son of Capt. John Sawyer and Elizabeth Kelley. He d. at Hopkinton, NH, 2 May 1813, age 44.
6. CALEB KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 22 Feb 1769; d. 26 Oct 1844; m. at Sutton, NH, 1 Jan 1795, LUCY WHEELER of Warner, who d. 31 Mar 1855, age 76. He settled in Warner, NH, near the "Mink Hills," on land purchased of the Government.
7. RICHARD KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 18 Mar 1770; d. at Amesbury, 23 Mar 1770.
8. ANNA KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 4 Feb 1771; died young.
9. RICHARD KELLEY, b. 9 Feb 1773; died in infancy.
10. RICHARD KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 13 Mar 1774; d. at Hopkinton, NH, 21 Nov 1843; m. at Amesbury, MA, 7 Jun 1796, EUNICE SARGENT, who was b. at Amesbury, MA, 15 Jun 1778, daughter of Hezekiah Sargent and Mary Sargent; d. at Hopkinton, NH, 17 Dec 1834.
11. JUDITH KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 26 Oct 1775; d. at Dunbarton, NH; m. at Amesbury, 1 Jan 1798, MOSES EMERSON of Haverhill. Lived, it is believed, in Lancaster, MA.
12. EUNICE KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 27 May 1777; d. 7 Jan 1825; m. at Amesbury, 1 Apr 1802, ENOCH DAVIS. Lived at the "Mills" (Amesbury and Salisbury).
13. MARY (POLLY) KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 7 Dec 1778; d. circa 1810, age 31; m. at Amesbury, 6 Feb 1804, WELLS DAVIS.
14. EZEKIEL KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 30 Jan 1781; d. at Hopkinton, NH, 7 Nov 1843 in the family of his son-in-law, James B. Kelley; m. at Amesbury, 8 Sep 1810, HANNAH PAGE of Atkinson, NH, who d. at Hopkinton, NH, 21 Feb 1843, age 64. Lived in Chichester, NH.
15. BETSEY KELLEY, b. at Amesbury, MA, 22 Oct 1784; d. at Chichester, NH, unmarried.
