The Foley Gene Pool - A Work in Progress

The Foley Gene Pool - A Work in Progress

genealogy

Let me introduce my self and explain my work. My name is Tim Foley. I became interested in Genealogy when my father, John, showed me a work comprised by Dr. Joseph Foley, my second cousin. It was The Foley Family History - a nice booklet with genealogical links dating from Miles Foley (DOB ~1820) who immigrated from Ireland to Hampton, NY with his family.

Dr. Joe did many interviews and had access to much research. I gradually researched families that married in to our gene pool and added my mother's (Stebbins-Blanchard)and wife's family (O'Connell-Keating). Everyday I search for relations, news, photos, and history and it has accumulated so far to a list of 2600 names. I haven't figured out the number of surnames yet. I also try to verify information I have obtained from others. In this site I will include copies (if not at least a bibliography) of my references such as obits, census images, SSI files etc.

So many new names have been added to the original Foley file. It emphasized the Foley line as it went on but I have been researching spouses' relatives as well. For example, the family of Irene Foley helped me add on over 700 names. I have also contacted someone about my great great grandmother Bridget Walsh Gunther which will add Sullivans, McGillicuddy's and more to the family.

The biggest chore has been locating sources for information. I am disabled so I rely mainly on census and social security information right now. A census like that of 1900 helps verify a lot of information such as birthdays and occupations

I hope to make this into a book and distribute via CD to those who wish to have the information.

I would appreciate anyone who has information, any information about these families to contact me at [email protected]. I am looking for family history; missing information;, birth, marriage, death certificates; Geographical information and pictures; and family pictures. Please help!

For the price of a blank CD and the cost of shipping, I will be making this information available to all on this. It will contain the gedcom file, an explanation of Sources and a copy of the New Foley History

God Bless you all!
