THE FOLKESTONE DOLLIES

Mary Ann and Susan PILCHER


Mary Ann (c1848) and Susannah PILCHER(c1856) were the daughters of Edgar and Sarah PILCHER. They were born in Folkestone and lived there all their lives. Mary Ann and Susannah owned a lot of land and were known locally as The Folkestone Dollies. Both girls remained unmarried and did a lot of charity work, helping those less fortunate than themselves. The girls' father Edgar PILCHER was brother of Ann's Great Great Grandfather, John File PILCHER. John and Edgar were the sons of of Thomas PILCHER and Mary or Susannah FILE.

John File PILCHER married Hannah KEELER. The children of John and Hannah were:

Elizabeth Ann PILCHER      1843
Alfred PILCHER                c1855

Elizabeth Ann PILCHER married George SIMS. Elizabeth and George were Ann's great grandparents.
