Every effort has been made to ensure that the relevant copyright notices appear for records where they should, in an attempt to follow genealogical etiquette. Permissions have been sought from the necessary organisations in order for material to be published on this website.
Information has been included for the following sections regarding the use of material contained within this website and Copyright notices are provided to ensure that information is not misused.
Every effort has been made to ensure that all material shown in "Footprints" is produced to a high standard and in an accurate manner. However, I cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions that appear. Material should be regarded as a secondary source of information and as is the case with all secondary sources of information, the original record should be consulted where possible. Original sources have been cited for your reference so that you are able to consult the original document.
I have no objection for private researchers to use any of the information or images contained within "Footprints" for their own personal studies or for other webmasters to link to this site.
All photographs on this website remain copyright to "Footprints..." unless otherwise stated. They may be used for your own Personal Use, but are not to be republished in any format, which includes to other websites without my permission. If in doubt of the copyright holder, please email me and I will let you know the owner of the image.
Contributions to this website are always welcome and the necessary permissions will be sought before putting material online.
Any contributions to "Footprints" remain copyright to the submitter of the information or image and will be clearly labelled with the name of the person that contributed the material. The exception to this is where copyright belongs to another person or organisation (original creator) which will be clearly stated.
Anyone has the right to remain anonymous and in this instance, acknowledgement will still be given to the contributor, but "name withheld" added to entry.
Crown Copyright material is reproduced with the permission of the Controller of HMSO and the Queen's Printer for Scotland.
In order to publish crown copyright material online a Click-Use Licence MUST be obtained from Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO)
Please Note: no copyright is held in the original Church Parish Registers, although the relevant parishes still hold certain rights in them. The transcriptions of various Devon Parishes may be used for your own personal research but should not be published elsewhere in any format, unless you are the person who took the transcripts.
Some parishes do object in having their Parish Register Transcriptions online, so please ensure that permission is sought. In the case of wanting to publish transcriptions for one particular parish it is common courtesy to contact the relevant parish for permission. For a large number of parishes, such as those on this website, permission should be sought from the Archivist at Devon County Record Office before publishing any Devon Transcriptions, in any format.
