Dear Mr. Johnson:

Thank you for your letter. The efforts of the FoulkrodResearch Group have realized numerous rewards in the development and progression of the Foulkrod family since its pioneers, Hans Adam & Juliana Catherina Fuckroth/Fuckeroth's immigration to Philadelphia on the ship Samuel on August 17th 1733. The Internet and the Foulkrod website have made it possible for us to reach and be reached by other Foulkrod researchers worldwide. So we are quite proud of our accomplishments.

I continue to be amazed, however, at the wealth of information uncovered by genealogical researchers, of any surname, before the age of computers. It has been my experience that often those research efforts hold the answers to many questions that we frequently are unable to resolve. Any assistance that you might be able to give us would be greatly appreciated.

You indicated that you are a descendant of Jacob & Mary (Bouderman) Foulkrod through their daughter, Sarah who married John Cuckle, by way of their daughter, Mary Foulkrod Cuckle, who married William R. Unruh. Our information is sparse regarding Jacob & Mary (Bouderman) Foulkrod's daughter, Sarah, other than she did marry John Cuckle. We have absolutely no information on John & Sarah (Foulkrod) Cuckle's descendants. Any information that you can share in this regard would be very helpful.

This is not the first time that the surname Unruh has come up in our Foulkrod research,--and in the same family. Jacob & Mary (Bouderman) Foulkrod's son and daughter-in-law, John & Mehala F. (Lukens) Foulkrod, had a daughter Jane L. Foulkrod who married Lewis Unruh on December 26, 1843 in Frankford (Philadelphia) PA. Lewis Unruh is known to us as the son of George & Maria (Castor) Unruh. Do you know the relationship between Lewis Unruh and William R. Unruh?

Our information online regarding Jacob & Mary (Bouderman) Foulkrod, under the Family Group, Hans Adam & Juliana Catherina Fuckroth/Fuckeroth, is current to our research,--so if you don't find information known to you there, then it is safe to assume that we don't know of it. And, again, any help to fill-in our blanks would be appreciated.

You indicated in your letter of September 27, 1999 that, "The document found at both Chester and Tioga Historial Societies may be the same one that is also at Hist. Soc. of PA." I can neither confirm nor deny your speculation in this regard. However, that document from the Chester and Tioga County Historical Societies is online and available on the Online Research Library under Our Archives. So if you have the document from the Historical Society of PA then you can make a comparison.

You asked if anyone had been able to get to the Historical Society in Frankford, Philadelphia. I don't believe so. Two of our members, Roy & Betty Haworth, have done some research in a library in the City of Philadelphia itself (for Wills and burial records) and Keith Sagers has done some research at the (I believe) Presbyterian Historical Society concerning the Frankford Church located on the corner of Main and Church Streets. Then, of course, we have relied heavily upon research done by Mary (Greenawalt) Murphy reported in her book, "The Helt / Hilt Family and The Foulkrod Family of Philadelphia County Pennsylvania."

You mention that the Foulkrods lived in Frankford and Jacob Foulkrod lived on the Oxford Turnpike, now avenue, south of Trinity Church at Oxford. And also, that John & Sarah (Foulkrod) Cuckle and William R. & Mary Foulkrod (Cuckle) Unruh are buried in the churchyard. Is this Trinity Churchyard the same as Cedar Hill Cemetery? I have been trying for some time now to acquire a cemetery listing of Foulkrods and associated surnames in the Cedar Hill Cemetery for the Foulkrod website. In the event the Trinity Churchyard Cemetery you mention is different than Cedar Hill Cemetery,--those burial records would be most welcome as well.

Since I am sharing your letter with the FoulkrodResearch Group, I must say that we (and not just I) look forward to hearing from you again, and that we are glad to know that our site has helped another Foulkrod Researcher.

Sincerely yours,

Wilma Sakowsky
