Carsten Johnson's Sept 27th '99 letter

Dear Mrs. Sakowsky

I am a descendant of Jacob Foulkrod (1760-1852) and of his daughter Sarah who married John Cuckle.

In speaking with Lee John Stradley on the phone he mentioned that you might or the Foulkrod Research Group might like more documentation for the web site.

Twenty years ago I spent two weeks in Philadelphia looking for my mother's family history at City Hall, the Historical Society and other places. I collected several photo copies which I transcribed, etc. Later I used microfilms of Pennsylvania County Histories available from the New York State Library. These films include the Atlases published in the 19th Century.

Foulkrods lived in Frankford and Jacob Foulkrod lived on the Oxford Turnpike, now Ave., south of Trinity Church at Oxford. John and Sarah Cuckle are buried in the churchyard as are their daughter Mary Foulkrod Cuckle and her husband William R. Unruh. My grandmother was Mary Foulkrod Unruh, their granddaughter.

The document found at both Chester and Tioga Historical Societies may be the same one that is also at Hist. Soc. of PA.

Has anyone been able to get through to the Historical Society in Frankford, Philadelphia?

If I may be of help or should you have questions or ideas let me know.

Yours sincerely,

Carsten Johnson

P.S. The F.R.G. is a wonderful enterprise. I am Village Historian in Pleasantville and your collective effort inspires me.
