Gustav Shroeder of Strasburg was in and indulged in an hour's pleasant chat with us Thursday when he was in town. He came to New York in 1867 from Hassan, Germany. He stayed in New York City five years, went to St. Louis where he lived 6 years. Came to Strasburg from St. Louis and has been there ever since. As soon as he came to New York, he applied himself to learning the English language and he has succeeded admirably. He is an intelligent man and you can learn a great deal of German history and life and manners by conversation with him.
