Age 87, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2003 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. He was born in Shawano on July 2, 1915 son of the late Frank and Sara (Hoffman) Allen. On March 12, 1934 Russell married Mae Thayer in Iron Mountain Michigan. He was a resident of New London since 1944. Russell was employed at various jobs in Milwaukee and the New London area and after 25 years of employment retired from Badger Highway Company in Menasha.
He is survived by three daughters: Patsy (Robert) Miller, Paola, Kansas; Angie (Kirk) Fletcher, New London; Judy (Dave) Ostermeier, Weyauwega; four sons: Donn Allen, New London; James (Betty) Allen, New London; Ralph (Joyce) Allen, Fredonia; Gary (Julie) Allen, Appleton; 32 Grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Ione Holtz, Clintonville; Evangeline Soaari, Michigan; Betty Hawkins, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife Mae (March 25, 2003), four brothers: Irvin, Franklin, Berto, Lawrence; and a sister, Marge Biekkola.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 PM Noon until the time of service.
