Vernon B. Thayer, 79, a resident of Sunny Ridge died Wednesday morning, July 31, 2002, at St. Nicholas Hospital.

Vernon was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Rhinelander, to Winfield and Clara (Bohlman) Thayer. In his youth the family relocated to Sheboygan where Vernon attended local schools and was a graduate of Central High School.

Vernon served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He was employed by the Wauwatosa School District as a custodian for 25 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement Vernon moved back to Sheboygan where he was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Vernon is survived by cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Forest Cemetery in Birnamwood, Wis.. The Rev. Allen Geil, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, LCMS, Birnamwood, will officiate. Friends may call at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, from 11 a.m. until noon.

Vernon B. Thayer, 79, a resident of Sunny Ridge in Sheboygan, a native of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Vernon was employed by the Wauwatosa School District as a custodian for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
