Car Victim In Critical Condition

A 74 - year - old Lida Street man is unconscious and in critical condition in the Brantford General Hospital after being injured by a car at the intersection of Market and Greenwich Streets about 9 o'clock this morning.

Harold Plumstead, 34 Lida Street, suffered serious head injuries and a fractured hip.

Police said the driver of the car was Donald W. Walker of 22 Ruth Street.

Pedestrian Dies After Injuries

Harold Plumstead, 74, of 34 Lida Street, died Tuesday night in the Brantford General Hospital slightly more than 12 hours after being in a colision with a car at Market and Greenwich Streets.

Mr. Plumstead suffered severe head injuries and died without regaining consciousness.

His death was the second in Brantford traffic accidents this year. Both victims have been pedestians. There were four traffic deaths in the city up to this time last year and a total of five for all of 1960.

Police identified the driver of the car involved in yesterday's fatality as Donald W Walker of 22 Ruth Street.

Herald Plumstead

Herald Plumstead, 74, of 34 Lida Street, who died Tuesday after being injured in a traffic accident, will be buried in Farringdon Burial Ground. Interment will follow a funeral service to be held Friday at 2.30 p.m. at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home, where the body is now resting. Mr. Plumstead was born and raised in the Paris district and was a resident of Brantford for the last 19 years. He served overseas with the 69th field battery during the Second World War. Later he worked for the Lake of the Woods Milling Company and Proctor Packers before retiring in 1956. He is survived by his wife, the former Clara Laughlin; four sons, Alex of Weston, Howard of Paris, Herald of Toronto and Clare of Berkley, Mich.; one daughter ,Miss Olive at home; two brothers, Arthur of Toronto, and William of Paris; one sister Mrs. Ruth Ashton of Piedmont, Calif. He has six grandchildren. Rev. J. W. Houston of Colborne Street United Church, will officiate at the funeral service.

PLUMSTEAD - Suddenly, in the Brantford General Hospital, on Tuesday October 17, 1961, Herald A. Plumstead in his 75th year; beloved husband of Clara Laughlin, 34 Lida Street; dear father of Alex of Weston; Howard of Paris; Herald of Toranto; Clare of Berkley, Mich.; and Miss Olive, at home, Resting at Hill and Robinson Limited, Funeral Home, Nelson and Queens Street until Friday. Service in the chapel at2.30 p.m. Interment if Farringdon Burial Ground.
