Susan Ann Foster Stevens In Illinois, the Stevens family is said to have lived at Raleigh in Saline County, on Beaver Creek in Bowlesville township, Gallatin County, and on Tucker Hill, near Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois. Susann was a charter member of the Christ Church at Rock Creek Illinois in 1880. Jim became a member on the date of their marriage. The Church record book shows that Jim withdrew his membership in 1891 but there is no record as to whether Susann withdrew. In the fall of 1898, Jim and Susann, with their seven children, joined Jim's brothers, Will, Charles and John Stevens, on a journey by covered wagon to establish a new home in Arkansas. In those days, it was a very difficult trip, taking six weeks to accomplish and during the trip, they lost their six year old son John who died in Clay County, Arkansas right before they reached their destination. Jim was a farmer and Justice of the Peace. Originally, the family settled on Jones Ridge in Greene County, Arkansas. In 1900, Jim Stevens owned his farm in Crowley township.
