Wesley Hall Thornes Road,
Wakefield

According to a brochure issued to celebrate the church opening, before the church was built 'the trustees purchased
a wooden hut from the South Yorkshire Methodist Mission at Goldthorpe; re-erected, equipped and opened it for
temporary service at Lupset on 1st February 1928 at a cost of 600 pounds.
The old hut had a remarkable career of usefulness.

It was first erected as a Y.M.C.A. hut in South Wales, was afterwards moved to Catterick camp before its transfer
to Goldthorpe as a mission Church, finding its final resting place at Lupset, where it became endeared to many hearts
as their spiritual birthplace and home.'
