Despite what the Sierra Club and Environmentalist would like you to believe the parks meadows thrived and were beautiful from the grazing of cattle. There was many more wild flowers and I think the meadows were much more beautiful back in the days of cattle grazing than today.

The Sequoia Kings Canyon National Parks used to lease out the meadows to cattle grazers that brought thier cattle into the park prior to the establishment on the parks. The leases ran out when the last member of the family that signed the lease pasted away.
