FRANK HYLAND (1829-1896)
MARY HYLAND (1830-1880) (Dau.of James Hyland & Bridget Flynn

Frank was born in Mayo Co. Ireland and emigrated to the U.S in 1848. He settled somewhere in N.Y. where he married Mary. Mary was born in Kilmaine Co.Mayo and settled in Saratoga N.Y.. There does not appear to be a direct relationship between these Hyland families prior to this marriage although they may be distant cousins. (It is worth noting that although family tradition assigns Mary to the Hyland family, a death record for their daughter Bridget lists her maiden name as Fahey. No explanation is currently available). After the birth of their first child, the family moved to a farm in Burnsville Twp. where they remained for about six years. The family later moved to a farm in Empire Twp where they raised their children.

Frank's wife died in 1880 leaving Frank with a young family to raise. Around 1888 Frank moved his family to St. Paul where he was residing at the time of his death in 1897. Most of his children apparently remained in St. Paul after his death. Both Frank and his wife are buried in Highland cemetery in Lakeville.
