JOHN MARTIN (1816-1879)
CATHERINE NEARY (1826-1905)
Both John and Catherine were born and raised somewhere in
Kilkenny Ireland. They were married
there about 1848 and came to America shortly thereafter. They resided in
New York for a short time and later moved to Mystic Conn. where most of thier
children were born. In 1855 they brought their family to Minnesota and settled
a claim on the south shore of Crystal Lake in Lakeville Twp in Dakota
County.

John died in 1879 and was buried in Highland Cemetary in Lakeville. His wife
continued to work the farm with the help of her two sons until her death
in 1905. She was buried next to her husband in Lakeville.
