The design of the new fence was taken
from the cemetery fence shown on a 1912 postcard. That fence was probably
built in 1901. (See 1912 postcard
and photo fence today).
The new fence will have posts of
metal or wood with globe finials. The posts will be connected by double
lengths of metal pipe rail.
The cemetery arch, patterned after the
one shown on the 1912 postcard, will face the highway and serve as an entrance
for pedestrians using the new walking/biking trail in front of the cemetery.
The arch has a six foot clearance at its highest point. The parish
may raise the arch substantially, above the height of adjacent posts, so
that the sign may be more easily seen from a distance. No gate is
planned.
