From our President
Bill Eddleman

I hope all of you have entered the year 2000 in grand style. Hope, Chris, and I all seem to be "Y2K Compliant" so far! I would like to thank the FFA for placing the trust in me to be your President for the next two years. I can definitely use all of your help, suggestions, and prayers in leading the Association into the new millennium. I would also like to thank all of those who helped to make this newsletter happen--especially Ed Stout, David & Pat Herd, Karen McClaran, and David Fulbright. Other family members who also stepped in to contribute material, and I thank them also.

We had a successful and interesting reunion in Cape Girardeau in June, and it was sure great to see everyone again! For those of you who could not make it to the 1999 Reunion, we hope to see you in June in Springfield. A summary of the 1999 reunion is contained herein.

Three items of business need to be discussed now and at the next meeting. First of all, I would like to see the regional representatives take a more active role in promoting the Association. As a first step in that regard, I would encourage each representative to recruit at least one family member into the Association before the next reunion. Also, keep us informed about family matters in your regions, and send us the information for the newsletter. Secondly, we need to have a more serious discussion about the timing of our reunions. Many of us (including me) favor having a reunion every second year instead of annually. Others prefer the annual reunions. Keeping in mind that SOMEONE has to plan these events, consider this matter for discussion in Springfield.

[Update -- Unfortunately, the Springfield reunion plans had to be cancelled because the local hosts failed to make the necessary arrangements for the meeting. Ed.]

Lastly, we need to be better at membership services. I would like to see the newsletter become quarterly, and shorter! The more timely the news, the more likely we are to keep people in the FFA. With our new Internet resources and all the great people in the FFA, we should be poised to grow in the year 2000!
