Fulbright  Family  Association  NewsLetter  Articles

Resources for Fulbright genealogists and family members have gotten several boosts lately, thanks to some new sites, and especially thanks to our historian Ed Stout. For those of you who do not have access to the Internet, we thought you might enjoy a peak at some of the information on the FFA web page at: www.tfb.com/~edstout/

"The non-profit Fulbright Family Association was founded in 1991 by descendants of the Johann Wilhelm and the Andreas Vollbrecht/Volprecht families. Membership is open to individuals with the name of, or any of the descendants of, or spouses of all those of the family name FULBRIGHT, or any of its variant spellings. Annual dues are presently $5.00 per family, which includes all those members of a single family living in one home. All members in good standing have one vote, otherwise you are welcome to attend business meetings but may not vote. Dues are expected to be voluntarily paid every second year. We can't afford to dun you for ten bucks! Cash contributions are tax deductible; and exceedingly helpful." Membership applications may be downloaded from the site.

"Our Purpose is to keep in touch with family members through the "Fulbright Connection" e-mail group; publish a family newsletter; plan future reunions, events and activities; share information and maintain family memorabilia, photos, documents and legends for those who follow; and to preserve the history of our past and present families by researching and documenting our origins and our ancestor's lives. We hope you will enjoy this site and help in its improvement.

Family Reunions are held the last weekend in June and generally have been held every other year in Springfield, Missouri where the association was founded. In odd years the meeting is held at some other point of historical interest to the family, such as in Jackson, Missouri and in Canton and Hickory, North Carolina. In 2000 it will again be located in Springfield, hosted there by Jean and Marty Fulbright. [Update -- Unfortunately, those reunion plans have had to be cancelled since the local hosts have failed to make the necessary arrangements for the meeting. Ed.]

In the year 2001 will be in Fulbright, Texas hosted by Chris Wilson. You are most welcome to join us. Detailed information may be obtained from the hosts."

Also included is a list of officers, links to a collection of articles copied from previous issues of the --
Fulbright Family Newsletter, a summary of information about our immigrant ancestors, links to some other sites with Fulbright information--including web sites of Karen McClaran, the Greene Co., Mo. Historical Society, Greene Co. History Museum, Paul F. Fulbright, GENFORUM site (see below), Dan Fulbright, Guy Fulbright, the Stulp family, and Randy Pool.

Other Internet Resources!!

Recently, even MORE Internet sites have appeared that have Fulbright information. Paul F. Fullbright is a descendant of William Henry and Sarah Bourland Fullbright in the Andreas line. He maintains a great web page that contains links to Fulbright information in Texas and other locations at:

And lastly, we FINALLY got a GENFORUM site. This is in interactive format where people can pose genealogical questions or answer other people's Fulbright questions. Visit it at:
