Fulbright  Family  Association  NewsLetter  Articles

From our President
Bill Eddleman

Heres wishing that all of you are doing well, and are enjoying health and happiness. I hope all of you are making plans to attend the FFA 2001 reunion, to be held in Paris (Fulbright), Texas. Chris and Rex Wilson have been working hard to provide us with an enjoyable stay. Hope to see you there!

I have been very gratified by the response to my request for material for the newsletter. I literally have nearly enough for another newsletter (due in April) and more, but can always use more. Special thanks to Kathy Sullivan, Tim Fulbright, Ed Stout, Harry Cleaver, Paul Fullbright, David Fulbright, and Dr. Arthur Fulbright for their contributions. Since we are going to be meeting near his final home, I plan to showcase "Judge" David Fulbright in this April newsletter, so I would particularly like to receive any information or documents on him and his family. Note the article by Tim Fulbright in this newsletter for starters! We also report on some of the most exciting documents to appear in Fulbright history in several years in this newsletter. Some of the missing estate papers of William Fulbright Jr. (died in 1784) have been found in the North Carolina Archives by Kathy Sullivan. Among the papers were two documents signed by the immigrant Johann Wilhelm Volbrecht! I have also received and researched more information on Fulbrights in Tennessee, including Jacob Sr.s son John and family, and the sons of John & Elizabeth (Coulter?) Fulbright. This will have to await a future newsletter, as will some other fine contributions from some of you.

I would like for all of you to think seriously about serving the Association in some capacity over the next two years--especially those who have not done so in the past. My term as President will be ending, and I would like to stay on as newsletter editor. It is someone elses turn to take over the top job, though! We will also need a site and date for the NEXT reunion (after Texas), so bring your ideas to Paris!

PLEASE send information about your family, family history, or anything else related to the Fulbrights, and have a great winter!
