A Family Calendar

(Several months ago, Debra Lynn Fulbright Kitchens sent me a well done family calendar. I asked her to write about the way she produced it. Some of you with computer skills may want to try what Debra did. DLF)

"How I Designed The Fulbright Family Calendar"

For those of you who have a computer you will understand this story, for those of you that don't, well read anyway!

Calendar Creator Plus is a program to create calendars, I entered all of the dates of our family members along with the years they were born. If it is a female and he is a blood member of the Fulbright family and she is married I put her maiden name in parentheses (example: Debra (Fulbright) Kitchens). I entered anniversaries also and put the year in parentheses, this way you can calculate how many years they have been married; I also put death dates. This prints out in calendar form. I was also able to put a title on each page and a "footer" at the bottom of each page.

Personal Roots is a program for genealogy. I have all of my dates along with names, etc. in this program. I printed out a descendants chart to place in the back of the calendar (this was for those members of the family that have forgotten spouses, etc.)

WordPerfect is a word processing program and I used this program to make a list of names along with addresses and phone numbers. When you look at the calendar and want to send a card, the addresses are handy.

PrintShop is a graphics program and I used this program to create a cover sheet and the printer who printed the calendars printed a family picture I had provided in the space I left available.

I have received several compliments from everyone in our family. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed this calendar and we will probably do it again next year. These calendars cost $3.00 each. The names in our calendar begin with my grandparents on my father's side and down to great grandchildren.
