Andreas (Andrew) and His Line

My name is Theresa Fulbright, wife of Ronnie Fulbright, who is the ggg grandson of Jacob Fulbright. I got interested in family history when I discovered Jacob purchased land in 1831 less than a mile from where we live and I was raised. This completely fascinated me and caused me to drive my family on all sides crazy for awhile.

I cannot prove Andreas or Andrew was the father of John William. I can only assume this. Andrew arrived in Philadelphia in 1764. From there he moved to NC approximately in 1769. Land records that Judy and Dave discovered verify that he was in NC. The problem is he is not listed in the 1800 census or 1810 census.

John William Fulbright, father of Arkansas Jacob, was born between the years 1755 and 1765. He married Barbary and they are listed in the NC 1800 census as having 4 sons and 5 daughters. John William died about the year 1810 per estate settlement of Lincoln Co., NC dated 1830. This petition of Andrew, William and William Hunsacker verified the children of John William and Barbary: Andrew b. ca. 1778, Mary Magdelina b. ca. 1780 who married George Sigman, John Fulbright b. ca. 1782 who married Barbara and had children Betsy, Sally, Susannah, Madalene, Phillip, John, William, (per estate settlement of John William in 1830) (1850 records in AR. settlement of Barbary estate lists unknown heirs of John as being Philip, David, Henry and Lewis). William b. ca. 1784 died in Arkansas in 1835. His brother Jacob was made Adm. of his estate 17 Oct. 1835. (Estate settlement of Barbary in Court Term 1849, states no wife or heirs.) Later Jacob was discharged as Adm. and Barbary inherited his goods and land. Barbara b. ca. 1784 married David Killian. Jacob b. ca. 1786 married Susan? b. Md. (Jacob arrives in AR. as early as 1824 per tax records) The first recorded buying of land I can find was in 1831. This being the land that is within a mile of where we live now. Elizabeth b. ca. 1790 married Samuel Moser. (They arrived in AR. before 1840) Sarah b. ca. 1794 married John Woodring. Catherine b. ca. 1801 (died 4 or 5 years before father, 1830 Estate Settlement of John William.) Barbary, wife of John William was born approximately 1765. She married John William before the year 1778 at the young age of approximately 13. She lived in NC before making the trip to Arkansas with children at approximately age 65. Her husband John William had died around the year of 1810 in NC, Barbary died in Independence Co., AR 15 December 1843.

There are several court records indicating arguments over the estate of Barbary. Samuel Moser, husband of daughter Elizabeth, was made Adm. of her estate, this included son William=s land which she had inherited. Court term of Sept. 1849 orders sale of goods and land. Samuel Moser declared Barbary was insane and demanded $100 per year for 4 years for taking care of her. From all indications Barbary may have come with Samuel and Elizabeth from NC before 1840 and continued to live with them. I feel like this is why Samuel and Elizabeth felt they were due her inheritance.

Jacob Fulbright married Maryland born Susan around 1809 in NC. They had children: 1) William b. ca. 1809 who first married Barbara Moser 15 May 1834, and second married Harriett Headstream 16 Sep 1847. 2) Andrew, b. ca. who first married Eliza Moser 29, 1833, and second married Elizabeth Barnes 5 Dec. 1850. 3) Sarah, b. ca. 1814 who married John Martin 23 Nov. 1841. 4) Joseph Washington, b. ca. 1817 married Susannah Moser 23 Nov. 1841. 5) John, b. ca. 1819 who first married Nancy E. Clark 24 Feb. 1853, and second married Nancy J. Winkle on 18 Nov. 1855. 6) Catherine, b. ca. 1825. 7) Susan, b. ca. 1827 who married Thomas Dobbs 15 Feb. 1845. 8) Barbara, b. ? who may have married Frederick Hefner. 9) Mary Elizabeth (Polly Ann), b. ca. 1829 who married Henry Moser in 1850. 10) Jacob Bradley, b. ca. 1830 who married Sarah A. Barnes in 1852. 11) Elizabeth Jacob, b. ca. 1836 who married W.H. Winkle on 14 Feb 1861

Jacob deeded his property to Jacob Jr., in Jan. of 1857. The agreement was for Jacob Jr., to pay his father $100.00 annually during his natural life and at his death his children were to receive $50.00 each except Catherine who was to receive $1.00. Daddy must have been mad at Catherine at this time.

I found a survey request for this land when Jacob Jr., deceased, that includes a map with a picture of the house drawn on it. At this exact location there is a spring very close and jonquils growing everywhere. I have dragged my husband all over the country digging up flowers from where our ancestors were born. I have a map of our yard so I won=t forget what trees or flowers came from what family. He has a really been thrilled with this.

Joseph Washington Fulbright, son of Jacob was born ca. 1817 in NC and married Susannah Moser on 23 Nov. 1841 in Ind. Co., AR. I cannot verify the parents of Susan. The closest I can come is John Moser and Rosanna Deal. Children of Joseph and Susan: 1) Lousia, b. ca.1843 married Richard Stroud 29 July 1858. 2) Joseph Washington, b. 23 Dec. 1847 married Amanda Barnes 12 Oct. 1865. 3) Nancy J., b. ca. 1849 married Rufus Winkle. 4) John Wesley, b. Oct. 1855 first married Bitha Collie 16 Nov. 1872, and second married Tennessee Melton 13 Sep. 1900. 5) Thomas J., b. ca. 1853 married Kate Nail. 6) Mary, b. ca. 1856 married Henry Collie 20 Sep 1872. 7) Richard B., b. ca. 1858 married Laura Moser.

John Wesley's second marriage produced a son, Sherman Henry Fulbright who was born in 1904. His son Arby Ray Fulbright is my husband Ronnie Ray Fulbright's father.
