Many Fulbright descendants believe that Jacob Fulbright (d.1844) of Cape Girardeau County, Missouri was married to Barbara Plunkett, the daughter of James Plunkett.

Court records of Lincoln County, North Carolina show that the wife of Jacob Fulbright, Jr. was Barbara Plunk, the daughter of Peter Plunk.

Peter Plunk owned property that was located on Lyles Creek in Lincoln Co., later known as Catawba Co. Peter died in about 1805.

A number of court cases that pertained to the estate of "Peter Plunk, decd.", clearly connect Jacob's wife, Barbara, to Peter Plunk, decd. Jacob, Jnr. was in Lincoln Co. NC in 18l7 through 1819 as "Plaintiff" in court cases about the "Legacy of Peter Plunk, deceased." These cases recorded by the Lincoln Co. NC Court of Pleas & Qtr. Sessions, included:

Jan.1817 - Jacob Fulbright Jnr & Barbara his wife vs. Jacob Fulbright Snr, Peter Carpenter, Executers of Peter Plunk dec. Petition issue was -- whether Jacob Fulbright, one of the defendents hath paid the Legacy due to Jacob Fulbright Jr. & his wife Barbara --

Jan. 1818 - Jacob Fulbright Jnr & Barbara his wife vs. Jacob Fulbright Snr & Peter Carpenter Exec of Peter Plunk decd -- Court decided that the defendent Jacob Fulbright Snr pay the petitioners --

Apr. 1819- Jacob Fulbright Jnr & Barbara his wife vs. Peter Carpenter one of the Executors of Peter Plunk decd -- the defendants should pay to the Plaintiffs --

Fulbright, Jacob, b. 26 Mar 1778, d.19 Ju1 1844.

Fulbright, Barbara, w. of Jacob, b. 1783, d.6 Aug 1853.

The census of Lincoln Co. NC, 1810, includes:

(1) Jacob Fulbright(26-45 yrs old) males: 1 (to 10) females: 1(16-26)

(2) Jacob Fulbright (45 up yrs old) males: 1(10-16), 3(16-26), 1(25-45) females: 1(l0-16), l(16-26), 1(45 up)

(3) Jacob Fulbright (26-45 yrs old) males: 1 (to 10) females:2(to 10), 1(26-45)
