FAMILY MEMBERS RECENTLY DEPARTED

Riley Russell Eddleman

As many of you know, Riley Eddleman passed away on August 15, 1996. For some unknown reason that information was inadvertently omitted from the last issue of the FFA News. We apologize to his entire family for that omission and ask that his nephew, Bill, pass our condolences to each of them.

You will recall his constant enthusiasm in pursuit of his family heritage, and his helpfulness and the assistance he freely offered to others. A copy of Bill's letter to us follows

Dear David,

I just got word that my uncle, Riley R. Eddleman, author of "The Eddleman-Fulbright Families", passed away at about 12:30 p.m. today at the age of 90. He had gall bladder surgery earlier this week, but the gall bladder problem appears to have been a symptom that his system was ready to shut down. I know a number of Fulbright genealogists have corresponded with him over the years, and often have disagreed with many of his conjectures about our ancestry, but he is the reason I am into genealogy and that I had such a strong base of information to start with. You might want to pass this note along with the weekly digest.

William Grussmeyer

Our sympathy goes to David and Tom Herd and to their sister, Linda Peterson. David Herd shared with us the following information. "After 27 years of service in the Air Force, William Donald Grussmeyer retired in Houston, Texas. That was in 1968. His wife, Betty Jean Campbell Grussmeyer, my mother s sister, preceded him in death. Uncle Don worked in the Department of Humane Resources (Welfare Dept.) for the State of Texas and was very active in the First Christian Church in Houston. He delivered Meals on Wheels an was active in other volunteer organizations. He will be missed by people both within his family and outside of it."
