Senator James William FULBRIGHT
Senator Fulbright of Fayetteville, Arkansas, served in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. He was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Having been a Rhodes Scholar, he saw the benefits of academic studies in another country. With that experience behind him he went on to promote the idea further by sponsoring the Fulbright Scholar Program.
