George Gallup Cemetery - Berne, NY

The location of the graveyard is northeast of East Berne, NY, on highway 157A at Pitcher Lane. It is found in a small copse in the center of a pasture between the farm at the corner of 157A and Pitcher Lane, and the next farm north, a distance of perhaps 300 yards up Pitcher Lane on the west side of it. The stones I unearthed were left leaning against a tree except for Rhoda's stone which was too heavy to lift. Pieces of other stones were in evidence. The stones are for the George Gallup who was a son of George and Freelove (Packer) Gallup, and the Lydia Gallup who was his wife and a daughter of Samuel and Jemima (Enos) Gallup. The Rhoda and Elias stones were for children of Joshua and Anna (Hinckley) Gallup (Joshua  was a child of Samuel and Jemima (Enos) Gallup). (Comments and pictures from Lynn Gallup 7 Sept 2001)
