    History & Achievements :

    William Britton the elder died in 1844, decloration of William Britton the younger, we have made every endevour to ascertain the whereabouts of William Britton the younger in order that we might obtain a fuller and more complete declaration, we communicated with persons in the neighbourhood where he was last supposed to be, but could hear nothing of him and believe he is dead. Moreover apart from these considerations the declaration made by himself and by Messrs. Brown and Shea sufficiently establishes a good possessory to the 20 acres: We trust therefore that on these grounds you will feel justified in waiving any stricter proof of heirship. In addition we may add that we are informed by Messrs. Brown and that by some other old residents that William Britton the older was married in IRELAND, so that it would be practically impossible to obtain strict proof of heirsh.
     
    Monday 15/2/1796. A Criminal Court hearing was held for two prisoners,William Britton a soldier and John Reid a convict, for burglary in the house of the Reverend Mr. Johnson, committed in the night of Sunday 7/2/1796. The evidence, though strong,was not Sufficient to convict them.  They were acquitted.
