KEARNEY, Miss Kathleen, Johnstown and Chest Springs, died May 6, 1977 at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown.  Born in Chest Springs, she was the daughter of Patrick and Regina (Litzinger) Kearney.  She was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Swank and Mrs. Mae Little; and brother Francis, who was killed in World War I.   She is survived by two neices Mrs. Mary Bernadette Kauth, California, and Mrs. Loretta Sanderson, eastern Pennsylvania.   She was the last member of the immediate family, a retired teacher of the Greater Johnsown School District and St. Clement’s Parochial School, a member of St. John Gualbert’s Co-Cathedral and St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Chest Springs.  Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Chest Springs by Rev. KELLY, Samuel, b. 1851 d. 5 Apr. 1923 at his home Chest Springs, age 75, a well known hotel keeper. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice Litzinger Kelly, two sons, Scott Kelly of Astoria, Ore; Mr. J. Flo Kelly of Clearfield twp and another son Clair died earlier. Brothers and sisters, William of Patton;  Isaac of Ebensburg; John of Mitchell’s Mills; Leo of Bakerton; Edward of Spangler; George of Nanty-Glo; Mrs. Jane Ellis and Mrs. Sarah Wilson of Bakerton. KELLY, Rose (Douglas) Mrs. , age76, Chest Springs, died June 19 1956. Guneral services were held June 22 in St. Monica’s Church with burial in the parish cemetery.  Her husband, Joseph (Flo) Kelly, died March 6, 1955.  These children survive: Russell, Ashville; Ernest, Clair, Robert, Mrs. Rosalie Dietrick, and John, all of  Chest Springs; Samuel, Milford, Conn; Clyde, Carrolltown; Mrs. Mabel Sherry, Ashville, R.D; Paul, Altoona; ray, Batavis, N.Y; and Joseph, Patton; also 56 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a brother John Douglas, Altoona.  She was a member of the Third Order of Secular of St. Francis.  [contributed by Jennie Amrhein - [email protected]]

KELLEY, Joseph, son of Earnest and Lorine (Parrish) Kelley, died at his home in Chest Springs at 7,30 o’clock, Wednesday night. He was born on March 14, 1941 at Chest Springs and, in addition to his parents, is survived by one sister, Rita and two brothers, Kenneth and Michael, at home. A Chest Springs man, Timothy J. WEAKLAND,  25. drowned while swimming at Raystown Lake near the Tantmun Run launch area on Friday, May 22, 1981. According to Huntingdon State Police, Mr. Weakland and four companions were fishing when he decided to go swimming. Police said the man knew how to swim and there was no explanation why he went under. The accident occurred at 6 p.m. and the body was recovered about two hours later by the Smithfield Rescue Squad. The victim was born April 24, 1956, in Spangler. He is survived by his parents, John F. and Mary Ruth (Stolz) Weakland, and three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Weakland was preceded in death by his brother Allen. Surviving are his parents and these brothers and sisters: Daniel married to the former Karen Stolz, and Thomas, married to the former Karen Plazak, both of Chest Springs(here a sentence seems to be missing) Joyce, Ebensburg, ED; Mrs. Dave(Lois) Smith Patton and Ann Marie at home. Also surviving are several neices and nephews; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Blair Stolz, Aberdeen N.C. and several aunts and uncles. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, by the Rev. Gerard Oeler. Interment was in the church cemetery. Bernard M. WEAKLAND, 59, of Chest Springs, died Thursday Oct 13, 1977, at home. He was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Ashville, a son of John and Mary Ellen (Maloney) Weakland. A son, William, died in 1954. Surviving are his widow the former Rita M. Little, whom he married April 30, 1940, and these children: Edward, Ebensburg; Bernard, Jr., Chest Springs; Mrs. Geraldine Bradley, Robert and Mrs. Anita Kline, all of Loretto R.D. and James, Ashville R.D. There are also nine grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Marie Eckenrode, Mrs. Gertrude Ivory, John and Paul , all of Chest Springs; James, Carrolltown; Mrs. Mary Eckenrode, Patton R.D. and Mrs. Theresa Summer, Loretto, R.D. Mass of Christian Burial was sung at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Monica's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerard Oeler celebrant. May 5, 1954 John L. WEAKLAND of Chest Springs died at his home at 6:30 o'clock last evening of a heart attack. He was born Aug. 18, 1897, at Chest Springs, a son of Michael and Mary Ellen (Burley) Weakland. Surviving are his wife the former Mary Ellen Maloney, these children: John, Mrs. Marie Eckenrode, Bernard, Mrs. Mary Eckenrode, Mrs. Gertrude Ivory, Mrs. Teresa Summer, all of chest Springs, James of Carrolltown and Paul in the air force in Alaska; 25 grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Harvey of Chest Springs, Vincent of Loretto and Mrs. Margaret Conrad of Altoona.
