Emigration to the Ukraine, Russia

I have received the following information from another Riedseltz researcher, Mary Lynn Axtman ([email protected])

The major emigration from Alsace from 1803 - 1809 was to the Ukraine, Russia.  This was a movement away from Napoleon's wars.  From Riedseltz, there were 19 families with the following surnames who emigrated:  FICHTER, FISCHER, HEGEL, HUFFNER, HUMMEL, JULCH, LAUINGER, SENGER, STEPHAN, STUMPF, STREICHER.
