RUSTY & JOYCE PARRISH
Across the Fence
By Arvord Abernethy
We were over at the Atwell Duncan estate sale Saturday afternoon when we ran across Mrs. Rusty (Joyce) Parrish. We all remember the Parrishes when they lived here and Rusty was the manager of Perry Bros. Variety for some time.
He was transferred to Grand Saline about fifteen years ago and they have lived there since. Rusty will soon have completed 30 years with Perry Bros.
I was asking about the boys and learned that James has been pastor of the First Baptist Church in Marfa for about a year. He and his wife, Martha, graduated from the Baptist Seminary at Fort Worth and are both enjoying their work at Marfa very much. Martha has
been blessed with a fine voice and music ability, so is a great help in that part of the work. They have
two young sons to occupy part of their time.
Joyce was returning from a visit to Marfa and was here visiting her parents, the W. O. Mims.
The Parrishes’ other son, Tommy, has received his Master’s Degree from Texas A & M and will be teaching at Geronimo this fall.
It was good to see and talk to Joyce again and to hear from all the family.
