RAINLESS APRIL
Across the Fence
By Arvord Abernethy
Here we are at the end of a very dry April, I haven’t heard from the official report at the Soil Conversation office as to how much rain that fell, but I recorded 4/10 of an inch. The Texas almanac says that our average for April should be 3.53 inches, so we are much behind. Maybe we can do some catching up in May when our average should be 4.34 inches.
Even though it has been dry, you should drive around over town and see how pretty the flowers are, especially the roses. If you have the opportunity, drive by Troy and Gladys Caldwell’s home at 500 E. Standifer and look at those roses growing over their front yard gate. They are so pretty.
