V. Townsend]
Ballard celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 4 at the Church
of Christ in Keller. They were married in Hamilton Dec. 3, 1933. (Hamilton
County Marriage Record Bk. 9, p. 444) Bertice
is a retired minister for the Church of Christ, having served with the
Sylvan Avenue Church in West Dallas, the Sanoma Avenue Church in Santa
Rosa, Calif., the LaVega Church in Waco and the churches in Davenport,
Neb., Council Bluff, Iowa, Hubbard, Duncanville, Danieldale, Pleasant
Grove and Arcadia Park. He has also designed and built several church
buildings and served on the advisory board for York College. Before
preaching full time, Bertice was employed by the Aircraft Co. in Grand
Prairie. They have a son, Ray Ballard of Keller, a daughter, Lavora
Gates of Colorado Springs, Colo., four grandchildren and eight Great
grandchildren.
