BAPTIST COVE 

 

BAPTIST COVE  was near the Baptist Branch of the Cowhouse, south of Pottsville. It was named Baptist Cove because most of the families who settled in that area were Baptists

 Some of the early settlers in Baptist Cove were the Albretchs, Murphys, Uncle Bill Griffis, Fred and Adolph Riewe, the Reinerts, Brentleys, William Kemp, Anderson Honeycutt, Goggins, Johnnie Simmons, Vicks, William Potts, Jim Glove, Harlstons, the Widow Keel, and Joe Curtis

Some of the early preachers who preached at Baptist Cove School were Willie Myers and Uncle Bill Newton, father of O. O. O. Newton.
