BAPTIST COVE
BAPTIST COVE was near the Baptist
Branch of the Cowhouse, south of Pottsville. It was
named Baptist Cove because most of the families who settled in that
area were Baptists.
Some of
the early settlers in Baptist Cove were the Albretchs, Murphys,
Uncle Bill Griffis, Fred and Adolph Riewe, the Reinerts, Brentleys,
William Kemp, Anderson Honeycutt, Goggins, Johnnie Simmons, Vicks, William
Potts, Jim Glove, Harlstons, the Widow Keel, and Joe Curtis.
Some of the early preachers who preached at Baptist Cove School
were Willie Myers and Uncle Bill Newton, father of O. O.
O. Newton.
