School had seven grades in
1911. Miss Gladys Preston was the teacher at Cottonwood in
1924-35 and school board membership included C. C. C. Newton, J. H.
Webb, and N. Cole.
Cottonwood School, northwest of Evant
and Fairview, wasoriginallyatop a chalk hill
overlooking Cottonwood Branch for which the school was named. In
1917 the school was moved to a more central location within the community
school district. Bernice Soules was employed as the teacher of this
school in 1936. School board members in 1936 were Johnnie Rudolph, W.
A. Hill, and John Ising.
