TOSSES HIS CIGARETTES AWAY

Several years later he told Mrs. Williams, Aunt Fannie, that cigarettes were just a nuisance, stained his hands, messed up his clothes, if nothing else. He threw his tobacco and everything in the fireplace and quit. But for years he had more trouble and desire to smoke than he had with liquor, that is, at times.

(One characteristic of Mr. Williams was his will power and determination. He was a sort of Andrew Jackson kind of man. High tempered but quick to apologize.
