WALKER BUSH
Walker Bush was raised by Old Man Kemp. Mr. Williams said he was pretty
smart and pretty bad. He went West and became a lawyer. As I recall he was
reputed to have become some sort of preacher too. (When Jeff Milton/Hilton
was out with a force in pursuit of Old Victorio, the renegade Apache,
he told of a preacher Bush being along with a gun. And that some fellow
chided him, asked what he would do, and was told he could try
something and find out. Of course, this may not have been the same man.)
At one time Old Man Bill Kemp lived in three hundred yards of the city
lake, in the depression before you get to it. He said that Isaac Steen,
longtime county clerk, also had lived out there, east of town.
