GROOMER SCHOOL was near the Gann Cemetery and the Leon
Riverabout five miles northeast of Hamilton. The school was
named for the John J. Groomer family, early Hamilton County
pioneers.
On 11 October, 1879, E. Chambers was employed as the
teacher of Groomer No. 37 by the trustees--John J. Groomer, John
Jefferson Durham, and Nathan Gann.
Paralee Groomer married John
Bart Oates and they were the parents of fifteen children.
