Miss Mollie McLerran, a teacher at Honey Grove School,
was appointed postmistress at Honey Creek on 7 March, 1877, before
the Honey Creek Post Office was removed to Carlton. Honey
Grove School was located between Hico and Carlton.
Honey Grove School
had
students in seven grades in 1911. In 1924-25 W. A. Moss, C. T. Tidwell
and J. H. Havens were on the school board of Honey Grove School
and Miss Ila Keene and Mrs. Leah Arnold were the teachers.
Teachers in 1936 were Principal, Mrs. Stella Fay Pittman and
Assistant, Miss Dorothy Brown. School trustees were W. H.
Tinsley, E. A. Vinson, and W. A. Moss. Tom Griffis also
taught in the Honey Grove School.
