Headline: Mrs. Oscar Berry is Buried at Hamilton
Mrs. Oscar P. Berry, 49, died at her home near Hamilton March 29, at 2:30
a.m.
after a lingering illness. Members of the family announced last
night that she
would be buried this morning, Friday, at 10 o'clock in the new I.O.O.F.
Cemetery, but complete arrangements for services had not been made when
the
County News went to press. Williams and Riley are in charge of the
funeral.
Mrs. Berry was born Myrtle Groomer White, July 12, 1890, daughter of Mr.
and
Mrs. Perry White. She was a member of the Baptist Church and
attended school in Hamilton.
She married Oscar P. Berry on December 24, 1911, and to this union five
children, four boys and one girl, were born. They are Oscar Jr. of
San Diego,
Calif.; Stanford of Hamilton; Mrs. Lawrence Mumford of Artesia, New
Mexico;
Bill and Cad of Hamilton. In addition to her husband and children,
she is
survived by four brothers and two sisters. Brothers are Rader and
Dal White of
Hamilton, Dorsey White of Casper, Wyo., and Walker White of Monahan.
Sisters
are Mrs. E. E. Head of McKinney and Mrs. W. S. Dickerson of Cleburne.
The
County News joins relatives and friends in mourning the death of Mrs.
Berry,
and further details of the funeral will be printed in next week's paper.

sisters-in-law.

Headline: Oscar P. Berry, Pioneer Citizen, Buried Saturday
Oscar P. Berry, 72, died in a Clifton hospital Thursday, May 22, at 12:05
noon. He had been in ill health for the past several years and was
taken to
the hospital when he became dangerously ill May 18. Funeral services
were
conducted from the Bob Riley Funeral Chapel Saturday, May 24, at 2 p.m.,
with
Minister Holland L. Boring, minister of the Reagan Street Church of Christ
officiating. And burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hamilton.
John Jordan
rendered two songs at the services: "Farther Along" and
"Precious Memories."
Oscar Berry was the son of H.S. and Kate Berry, both deceased, and was
born in
Bell County, June 11, 1886. He came to Hamilton when a small child
and he
spent practically all of his life here. He was married to Miss
Myrtle White,
December 24, 1910, and five children were born to this union.
Mr. Berry was well known and well liked in Hamilton. He united with
the Reagan
Street Church of Christ at the age of 69. He was a retired farmer.
His wife
preceded him in death in 1940.
Deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joe Taylor, Artesia, New
Mexico;
four sons: O. P. Berry, Jr., Lakeview, Oregon; H. S. Berry, San
Antonio; Bill
Berry, Wickford, Rhode Island; and Cad Berry, Puerto Rico; two sisters,
Mrs. W. S. Dickerson, Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. E. E. Head of Killeen; and eight
grandchildren.
Due to living at great distances, three of his sons were unable to attend
the
funeral.
Pallbearers were: Alfred Schmidt, Wade Gregory, Marvin Wilson, John
Koen, W.
P. Lawson, Burl Massingill.
