Eunice Louise ( Sue ) Nix, 95, died at Hamilton Dec. 9, 2004. Funeral services were held Dec. 13, in the First Baptist Church in Hamilton with Dr. Tim Moody officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. 

She was born May 14, 1909 in Hamilton, the daughter of Ben and Corda Williams. She graduated from Hamilton High School and the University of Texas where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta social sorority. Mrs. Nix did graduate work at Baylor University. 

She taught Home Economics in Hamilton High School where she met and married then Superintendent Cecil Nix in 1931. She also taught Home Economics in Flatonia as well as second grade in Cranfills Gap and Port Lavaca. 

Mr. and Mrs. Nix moved back to Hamilton from Port Lavaca after their retirement. She was an active member of the Central Christian Church in Hamilton until it closed in the 1980s. She then became a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton. 

In the early 1960s, Mrs. Nix was honored to give the commencements address to the graduation class at Cranfills Gap High School. She had taught the graduates when they were in the second grade.
 

She was an active volunteer for several years in the United Care organization where she was awarded their first Distinguished Service Award. She was active in the Retired Teachers Association for many years as well as the Delta Kappa Gamma retired teachers sorority. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

Survivors include her two sons, Ben C. Nix and his wife, Anna Lou, of Arlington, and Cecil A. Nix Jr. (Andy) and his wife, Sandra, of Glastonbury, Ct.; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 

The family has designated for memorials the Hamilton Public Library 201 N. Pecan St. Hamilton or the Hamilton United Care P.O. Box 212, Hamilton, TX 76531.
